Crain’s
New York Business reports that Aspire
Federal Credit Union will be holding an auction of 14 New York City taxi
medallions on Jan. 16, 2018. To attract
bidders, at least one of the medallions will have an opening price of $150,000. The article notes that the last major auction
that involved competitive bidding was a package of 46 medallions sold in
September for about $186,000 apiece. For
